The girls got off to school with butterflies but no tears. O.G. is upset though. He’s been following me around all morning and is currently snoozing under my feet. Poor doggy, all his people leave him. But not his mama. This might mean a clearer head for updating websites. That would be great. Here’s to hoping… lol. Maybe O.G. will inspire some posts :)

I was not into it this morning, it’s kind of lazy. First day Bento:

Red Box:
Fruit Roll Up
Sandwich Kabob: bread, cheese, grape tomato, turkey
Forgot to add a mayo/mustard “dip”… blah

Pink Box:
Baby Gold Fish – Rice Crispy Treat – Strawberries – napkin

New bento supplies from my local Asian Market:

An afternoon quickie… :P

I have been feeling quite sorry for myself. It’s mostly coming from the direction of the girls and how hard it is to do it alone. As most of you know. So this morning I decided it is time for no more Pouty McPouty Pants. Today I am thinking of things that make me happy. Here are a few things :)

What little things make you smile?

Staying calm… ha!

Maverick and I were talking about G2 (age 11). I have more trouble with her than I do my other two. Her mouth sometimes gets out of control, she is disrespectful and will not do what she’s told. This has been G2 since she’s been very little. With Maverick being gone all the time I don’t have a whole lot of patience for her shenanigans. I have two others who also need attention and discipline.

When Maverick tells me things like I need to work with her, she needs special attention, be fair etc. all I hear is that I’m not doing a good enough job and he knows better than I do. Then, and I don’t say it, I think “Well Listen Here Buddy! Maybe if you weren’t gone all the time you could show me how easy it is and deal with it your damned self! Maybe I’m doing the best I can with what situation we’re in how about backing me up! Next time she pushes your buttons I will remind you to “be fair and give her special attention.”"

So there we have it. He wants to still be involved in parenting from thousands of miles away and I want to tell him to take his computer parenting and shove it… tee hee.

The fun times of a family going through deployment. We start by putting them (our spouses) on a pedestal, forgetting how irritating they can be, then R&R happens right when we were getting a routine and feeling somewhat ok, they leave again we break down again and right when our skin thickens back up they are home and we get a honeymoon period, reality sets in and all of a sudden the messes you wish you had to clean up because it would mean he was home irritates the crap out of you and then they come tumbling off the pedestal lookin’ all broken. I would like to hear their version. Maybe, not right now though, I’m not very receptive to it. :P

Lots of blah…

A funny little thing, last night we were playing SingStar Country and I wanted to sing Blake Shelton’s “Home”. Well 2nd Daughter G has voiced a few times, while listening in the car, she didn’t like that song. However I like the song and am a fan of Blake Sheltons so that’s what I chose. I put it on and she says “Mommy I don’t like this song. I don’t want to hear some civilian whining about wanting to go home”. Oh my little Army Brat, I love her!

This morning I’m watching “Band of Brothers”. My usual “Days of Our Lives” isn’t on so that’s it for now. I need to get dressed and mail out this carepackage for my honey. Lots of coffee, creamer, donut sticks, to go coffee cups w/ lids and other various items. Maverick’s birthday is in a couple of weeks. I want to send him a fun b-day package. I need to look up ideas. Last year we had our friends over to BBQ, the girls and I got him an Ipod with a docking station. I would send him an Itunes card but the internet sucks over there and he really doesn’t have much access to a computer that can go on Itunes anyway.

I’m feeling really down today and I don’t even know if I have any readers any more, I have lost my blogging muse. I have actually lost all of my creative muses. All I can think of is the day Maverick comes home and is laying next to me in our bed. Somedays it’s hard to do the simple things. For a change of mood I leave you with Desdemona…

Major Maverick – almost

I’ve been watching “Major Dad” on Hulu everynight for the past four days. I watched it when it was first on but I was younger, not married to a fine soldier or realizing just how true a lot of the silliness on the show is. I think “The Major” is a tad over the top but I see how a 42 year old single Major in the Marie Corps might be a little too Hoorah. I have met my share of married Army guys that are too Hooah, so why not. I think it is kind of too much that his wife and the girls call him Major and refer to him as “The Major”. I have heard a lot of military make their children say Sir. Is that mainly a military thing? I don’t know I’ve been around it for twelve years and don’t have much to compare it too.

So two night ago the smallest G and I were layin’ up in my bed watching it together and it was the episode where The Major goes off to Central America on a combat mission. Little G and I didn’t say much while watching that episode until it continued and we watched the next episode. The girls were talking about how much they hate it, how worried Polly was etc. Then they finally said how long he was gone, ten days. Little G snorted and said “Ten Days! That’s It!” and looked me like pffft whatever.

I have to laugh at the show though because one day that will be my house. Three little girls, a wife that doesn’t exactly see his point of view or the Army’s, and one day he will be a Major. A Major pain… ha ha, bad joke. He’s not a pain, he’s my honey. I miss him.

The next day she told her sisters about it. Big Daughter G said “Ten days, we get excited when daddy will be home in two weeks! It probably took him four days to get there.” I shared the story with Maverick and he said ” I want to come home on the next episode. That’s a vacation, not a deployment.” I always wanted to live a prime time sitcom life. Speaking of my non-sitcom life, I have cleaning to do before I take off to Hobby Lobby. I hope ya’ll have a fun productive day. I’ll be sweating out at the barn tonight.

So close…

“Offensive”: Supervisor Removes Worker’s American Flag – I for one don’t see how displaying your own country’s flag is offensive. I mean it wasn’t an “I club baby seals and eat their eyeballs” flag. Holy crap when did being an American become offensive in our country? Makes me sick really!

In MO Life News R&R is just around the corner. Like really I am about a block away from it all I have to do is stand here and wait for the “ok to walk” to flash and I’m on my way to it. I need R&R probably as much as Maverick. For months all I have needed is a hug to make me feel better. For two weeks I will have even more than that. I can’t wait and May is dragging it’s ass. June is jumping at the bit to get here but May wont get the frick out of they way.

In other bit news :P … I haven’t rode in a while. Almost two weeks. I fully planned on riding today but it rained last night. The ground just dried out too. I didn’t ride yesterday. It was quite hot, Big Daughter G had homework to do and since taking care of the other two horses, dinner has been slacking. I started last week not going out until after dinner. My goal was to be kick ass by the time Maverick was home for R&R, but I guess I will have to be ok at riding. Oh well, I’m a five times better rider than I was before he left. He will just have to be impressed enough with that :) .

Speaking of riding, Big Daughter G had her first playday in a neighboring town. She won 2nd on barrels, 1st on the straight-a-way and 2nd on poles. We’re all very proud of her.

Turn & Burn

My Second Bento Attempt

This is A2’s Hello Kitty snack size bento. I’m guessing it’s snack size ’cause not much fits.

Turkey deli meat rolled up with cheddar butterflies and flowers. Grapes and craisins w/ a cheddar flower on top. Cheddar mini ricecakes. Gummy Bears. Toffee peanuts and in the middle is a rolled papertowel. I didn’t get a pic’ of the lunchbox and lid. That will be next.

Here is K’s Hello Kitty Bento set minus one large bento not in use. The large one not shown actually came with the bag and I didn’t know it was in there until we got home with it.

Same stuff as A2’s only she has crackers (Townhouse Toppers) instead of the little rice cakes.

I think I may make another page for just bento. For now enjoy my ideas until I am “organized” and you can’t find a thing around here any more… LOL

Lunch Time with MO

I added “Mommy Help” to the left there. I just compiled some main dishes and shopping list for the girls lunches. I hope it can help some looking for ideas outside the square sandwiches. I know I need help in this area. I have only a few ideas but now I have a small list to refer to when I really need the help. I also want to get into packing a Bento style lunch for my girls. Bento looks like so much fun for the accessory lover in us all :) . Check out Bento on Ebay, Lunch in a Box, Just Bento and Bento pictures at Flickr. As you can see so many things can be packed in these cute boxes, it’s really the limit of your imagination. I hope I can post pictures here when I start. I want to start tomorrow but Walmart didn’t and the local Asian Market had only one really ugly green set (really odd). I have read to check and see if Dollar Tree has any boxes. I hear they generally have a few. We’ll see. I may just start with Gladware and purchase some cute accessories.

Also check out this cute video that this little did: The Learning Bento. Too cute ;)

Another thing under “Mommy Help” is a chore chart section. I don’t have anything up there yet. I would really love to get ideas, pictures, etc. of what other mothers do in their homes. I don’t care if it is shared or posted on your own blogs. Why not have all the sources available. I have older children and if I could just find somebody who has ideas after toddler hood that would be wonderful. Soon I will be working mommy outside the home and I would like to know how they accomplish getting house tasks done. How do you get your husband to take his Boots upstairs and hang his ACU top somewhere other than the kitchen chair… LOL. That needs to be addressed under “Wife Help”… LOL

I don’t normally post a lot of mom stuff, I like to think I have other things going in my life but let’s face it, I have three children, the subject is bound to come up. Along with my pets, husband, parents, Army life, politics, fashion, etc. etc. I hope you all have a productive day.

Another moment of Hooah through Osmosis

Wednesday Maverick had shoulder surgery. While he rested after his surgery the girls and I went downstairs to get his prescriptions filled. As most of you know you sit in a very crowded area with disgruntled people waiting to get their meds and get the hell out of dodge. You are also familure with this sound: Now serving B1098 at window number two, Now serving A1224 at window number eight. Our oldest daughter *A1* turned and said “Did she say B or D?” and replied “I believe she said B” A1 says “Well why doesn’t she say Bravo1098 instead of just B” I grinned at my twelve year old daughter’s HOOAH through osmosis moment and asked “So they should use Alpha Bravo Charlie Delta too?” She looked at me like “DUH” and said “Yes then you would at least know which they were calling”.

Maverick had his HOOAH moment too. His HOOAH moments are not through osmosis but actual thought patterns. Which, to me, seem just as “eek” as it slowly sneaking in. He was asleep in the hospital bed and I told the girls “Come here and watch this” I leaned over and very nicely and sweetly said “Maverick, Maverick, Honey wake up” and all I got in response was eye movement under his lids. Then I said “-insert rank & last name here-” and his eyes were wide open. *sigh* There is no hope for this man.

Ummm Yeah

I messed it all up again… surprised? :P

Tonight I should have a lot of it restored. I haven’t updated in a few days so nothing was missed.

I’m off to prepare for Peanut’s Dance Recital. So very proud of my girls *grin*
